Every coin is reviewed. OBITCO documents pieces with intrinsic or numismatic value for appraisal and uses in-store equipment to test silver, gold, platinum, palladium and copper. Evaluation methods may also include Fisch and ring testing, X-ray, magnetic, acid or electronic testing.

Any OBITCO team member can help with in-store purchases. Walk-ins are welcome for sales and large precious-metal purchases, but calling ahead helps ensure our numismatist is available for you.

Review & documentation

Every coin is reviewed. Items with intrinsic or numismatic value are documented for appraisal, with photographs used when appropriate for the collection and service.

Testing & offer

OBITCO authenticates and evaluates each item, then presents a fair-market offer. Precious-metal pricing, including 40% and 90% junk silver, is locked at the time of evaluation. Non-precious-metal offers remain valid for seven calendar days.

Payment

Accepted items valued at $500 or less are paid in cash. Higher-value purchases are handled case by case and may be paid in cash, by check or with a combination of both.

Appraisal services

In-store, estate and on-site evaluations.

Appraisals prepared for an OBITCO purchase are free. Formal tax or insurance appraisals are available in store for $49. Estate and on-site appraisals are available at $100 per hour with a four-hour minimum. Appraisals provide valuation documentation only and are not tax or legal advice. Ask the appropriate professional how a valuation may be used.

For large or bulk precious-metal orders, OBITCO can facilitate a coordinated special order. A 6% brokerage fee is added over applicable product premiums and covers order coordination, insurance, shipment tracking, receipt verification and associated administrative handling. Availability, final pricing and fulfillment timing are confirmed before the order is placed.
